comparing optical,
tape and
HDD based long term storage
- optical has less CO2 emissions and is therefore "greener".
Taken in isolation - if you just want to archive data - that may be
true. But if you want to be able to access, process and repurpose archive data
for new markets which require immediate online access - then owning data which
you can't access quickly enough is a waste of time. I discuss these new markets
