LSI Logic LSI5201

Dual Port iSCSI Host Adapter

The LSI5201 dual port 1 GBPs iSCSI host bus adapter extends LSI Logic's Fusion-MPT family of HBAs. It supports the iSCSI standard using SCSI blocklevel storage data over native Ethernet networks, by encapsulating SCSI protocol in standard TCP/IP packets.

The LSI5201 host adapter combines the SNP1000 Storage Network Processor (SNP) with the LSI Logic's LSIFC929 Fibre Channel protocol controller offering a unique solution, which can support both NAS and SAN connections. It implements the iSCSI and TCP/IP processing in a combination of hardware and firmware that fully offloads TCP/IP protocol processing from the host CPU. The result is high performance, high throughput and less CPU overhead.

The LSI5201 host adapter is offered in three configurations:

  • Dual port 1 GBps iSCSI Ethernet
  • Dual port 1 GBps iSCSI Ethernet with a 2 GBps Fibre Channel port
  • Dual port 1 GBps iSCSI Ethernet with a iSCSI to Fibre Channel bridge
Features:-
  • SCSI Performance: 400 MBps full duplex and Fusion-MPT™ architecture allows for 100,000 IOPs
  • meets or exceeds all specifications for transporting SCSI packets over TCP/IP in final iSCSI specification by the IETF
