STEC's New SSD Aims at Ultra Mobile PC Market

SANTA ANA, Calif - May 14, 2008 - STEC, Inc. today announced a new SSD in the PCIe mini card form factor.

The UM-SSD, aimed at the low cost, ultra mobile PC market, is an MLC flash SSD with a SATA or PATA interface, 32GB capacity and 55MBps / 25MBps R/W speeds.

Pillar Beats NAS Bastions for Credit Card Storage

San Jose, Calif - May 13, 2008 - finance company Preferred Credit has selected Pillar Data Systems' Axiom 300 storage for its production environment in preference to competing solutions from Network Appliance and EqualLogic.

Toshiba Announces Bigger Car Drive

IRVINE, Calif - May 13, 2008 - Toshiba Storage Device Division today said it will sample a (higher capacity) 60GB 2.5" 4,200 RPM automotive hard drive later this year - with an improved altitude spec of 5,500 meters and operating temperature range of -30° to +85° C.
