Since 1990, its mission has been to analyze new threats as
rapidly as possible to keep our clients safe. Several teams, each specialized in
a specific type of malware (viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, phishing, spam,
etc), work 24/7 to provide global coverage. To achieve this, they also have the
support of TruPrevent Technologies, which act as a global early-warning
system made up of strategically distributed sensors to neutralize new threats
and send them to PandaLabs for in-depth analysis. According to Av.Test.org,
PandaLabs is currently the fastest laboratory in the industry in providing
complete updates to users (more info at www.pandasoftware.com/pandalabs.asp).
- editor's comments:- I used PandaLabs anti-virus
for 10 months ending July 2008.
It replaced an ant-virus product from
Norton which had failed to protect me from malware that tried to log into my
online bank as me.
I also used Panda's online service with success at
cleaning up the infected PC - which a Norton scan had passed as clean.
On
the downside - the free evaluation version of their bundled product failed to
install due to missing files - in the download version I tried (in 2007).
That's a quality control issue.
Also Panda's technical support is very
slow - typically 2 to 3 days (if you get a response at all).
Eventually
I had to dicard Panda's ant-virus product because it trashed my PC. It warned
me that one of its internal components had failed - and that I needed to
re-install the product. I did as requested - but the re-install failed to work.
Then I de-installed it again - and that process affected some critical files in
XP.
Overall I think it did good for most of the time I used it.
I've used anti-virus software from more than 5 different vendors over the
years and just when you think the product you're using is near perfect - they
deliver a "rogue" update which stops your system working - or
fails to stop the bad guys coming in.
But the key issue with Panda is
not the product - but inadequate technical support.

| Can You Trust Your Flash
SSD's Specs? |
Editor:- I've noticed is that
the published specs of
flash SSDs change
a lot -from the time a product they are first announced, then when they're
being sampled, and later again when they are in volume production.
Sometimes
the headline numbers get better, sometimes they get worse. There are many good
reasons for this.
The product which you carefully qualified may
not be identical to the one that's going into your production line for a
variety of reasons... ...read the article | |
