Atlantis Computing, winner of the prestigious Best of VMworld and Best of Citrix
Synergy awards, addresses the challenges of storage-intensive applications in
private and public clouds: performance, cost, and the ability to scale-out on
demand. Atlantis ILIO is purpose-built software-defined storage that complements
virtualisation solutions from Citrix, Microsoft and VMware to optimise the use
of data centre storage by virtualised desktops and servers, automate large scale
deployment and management, and lower implementation risks. Atlantis Computing is
privately held and funded by Adams Street Partners, Cisco Systems, El Dorado
Ventures and Partech International, with headquarters in Mountain View,
California and offices in Europe. For more information, visit:

editor's comments:- February 2014 -
Atlantis Computing
is in the SSD software
and SSD ASAP
markets.
Although the company has been in the storage virtualization
market since 2010 - it was only in February 2014 - when Atlantis
launched
the "In-Memory" storage release of its software - which
escalated the product's performance into what I consider to be the truly
SSD-aware software class - that I started my coverage of the company on
StorageSearch.com. |

As in particle phsyics we
do some experiments based on the shape of things we understand with the current
level of technology - and then discover that there are some other little things
out there which weren't so obvious before.

"The inevitable result
is that a customer - which may have been on a buying roll and ramping up its
adoption of SSDs - suddenly discovers that it can get by without needing any new
hardware - because the new software regime has improved its utilization..." |

"One of the most
potentially rewarding market challenges which SSD companies are grappling with
right now is - how to make enterprise solid state storage attractive to users
who aren't worried about their hard drive performance and don't even think they
need SSDs." |
