Nasuni was founded in 2009 by storage veterans to deliver a
gateway to cloud storage that makes the cloud feasible for business users. The
Nasuni Filer is a virtual NAS
file server that runs on VMware and leverages the resources of the cloud to
simplify file storage and protection. Targeting the mid-market, Nasuni's
solution eliminates the need for incremental storage hardware, and the resulting
capital expense to manage unstructured file growth. The company is backed by
North Bridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners. To download the Nasuni Filer,

Nasuni published a
guide to the top 5 issues you should consider when looking at
cloud storage.
This
is a very hype-laden market - which has taken 10 years to get nowhere
substantial very fast - but I suppose the same could be said about the
35 years
it's taken for the SSD market
to get seriously started.
Because I am intrinsically suspicious about
new storage software
companies - I let this one sit in my inbox for a few days before looking at it
in more detail. But the points made seem quite sensible. ...read

Surviving SSD
sudden power loss |
Why should you care
what happens in an SSD when the power goes down?
This important design
feature - which barely rates a mention in most SSD datasheets and press releases
- has a strong impact on
SSD data integrity
and operational
reliability.
This article will help you understand why some
SSDs which (work perfectly well in one type of application) might fail in
others... even when the changes in the operational environment appear to be
negligible. |
