Knowledgetek is the #1 technology training seminar resource in the storage
networking industry. Since 1984, Knowledgetek technology courses are developed
with our hands-on, experienced trainers. Up-to-date information, using the
latest leading-edge storage technology and devices. Seminars include: SAS; SATA;
SCSI; Flash Hybrid; noise-predictive PRML channels; ATAPI; DVD and CD
technology; Fibre Channel; Advanced Perpendicular Recording; Disk Drives; solid
state, tape storage and their interfaces and 1394 Interface.
- editor's comments:- August 2011 - many training organizations act
as marketing aggregators of talented people who work for their own companies or
academia. You can get a useful idea of the trainers and backgrounds available

In the fall of 2011 - KnowledgeTek will start
running a series of
2 day
courses on SSD technology (price $1,595) - in which you will learn - "...how
SSDs work; how flash works; how flash is changing the storage industry;
skepticism for claims of reliability, low-cost, and low-power; limitations for
flash's future in SSDs; and what is poised to replace it."

| what can
you learn about SSD technology in 2 days? |
Editor:- August 23, 2011 - I've been learning
about SSDs and related technologies the easy way - one idea at a time - in a
low pressure environment - over a period of many years from many sources - so
there was never any danger that my brain would explode from the intake of too
much concentrated and sometimes contradictory information.
Lucky me!
But
many of you are (as I see in your emails) are plunging deep into
the cold dark fathoms of SSD with the urgent need of fishing out some
useful decision nuggets without the aid of breathing tanks or depth gages -
armed only with a web browser as your torch and a an alarm clock to remind
you to get back to the land of offline before your time is up.
Depending
how big those decision-nugget-budgets are - events and training courses may
offer an effective alternative fishing strategy.
I learned today that
KnowledgeTek
is running a series of
2 day
courses on SSD technology (price $1,595) in September (/Longmont, CO) and
November (San Jose, CA). |

Among other things -
KnowledgeTek says you will learn - "...how SSDs work; how flash works; how
flash is changing the storage industry; skepticism for claims of reliability,
low-cost, and low-power; limitations for flashs future in SSDs; and what is
poised to replace it." | | | |
| Surviving SSD
sudden power loss |
Why should you care
what happens in an SSD when the power goes down?
This important design
feature - which barely rates a mention in most SSD datasheets and press releases
- has a strong impact on
SSD data integrity
and operational
reliability.
This article will help you understand why some
SSDs which (work perfectly well in one type of application) might fail in
others... even when the changes in the operational environment appear to be
negligible. |
