LaCie

LaCie, founded in France in 1989, was acquired by Seagate in 2012 for $186 million (approx).

The LaCie brand is used by Seagate for rugged consumer SSDs and hybrid and HDD based storage modules and boxes aimed at the "style conscious" consumer and small business markets.

We differentiate ourselves with a focus on design, unmatched technical performance, and long-term reliability."

LaCie entered the SSD market in 2012 with its first products using PCIe SSDs.

Nowadays (in 2016) LaCie's SSD products mainly use the USB / Thunderbolt interface.

In January 2010 - LaCie launched its "Enterprise" range of desktop RAID systems with eSATA or USB or FireWire connectivity.

In July 2010 - LaCie launched a rugged USB flash drive - the XtremKey - with upto 64GB capacity inside a 2mm metal pipe casing.

In May 2012 - Seagate announced it had agreed to acquire Lacie for $186 million.
