the Top 10 SSD Companies the fastest PCIe flash SSDs? the Problem with Write IOPS - in flash SSDs Why size matters in SSD design architecture don't all PCIe SSDs look pretty much the same? re PCIe SSDs - blog by Texas Memory Systems PCIe SSDs benchmark test - includes RamSan-70 (pdf) StorageSearch talks SSD with Holly Frost, CEO, Texas Memory Systems |
Editor:- April 12,
2013 - some strategic models in TMS's RamSan SSD family have migrated into
similarly numbered models in
IBM's
FlashSystem product line. But not all are currently being marketed in this
way. What happened to the RamSan-70 and related TMS IP in PCIe SSDs? IBM EOLed this product line. As we learned later - they had other plans for server based SSD acceleration as they were a collaborator in the needs requirements for memory channel SSDs. Editor:- October 1, 2012 - IBM today announced it has completed its acquisition of Texas Memory Systems.

Texas Memory Systems | RamSan-70 | Texas Memory Systems designs and builds solid
state storage systems for accelerating essential enterprise applications. The
award-winning RamSan product line, known as "The World's Fastest Storage®,"
delivers fast, reliable, and economical solutions to a broad base of enterprise
and government clients worldwide. Founded in 1978, Texas Memory Systems
continues to architect and engineer the future of solid state disk (SSD).
RamSan accelerated systems can manage extremely high transaction volumes and allow IT managers to add concurrent users without the expense of new servers, software licenses, server-based RAM or monolithic hard disk-based RAID storage. RamSan solid state storage products come in a variety of performance, capacity, configuration, and cost options. The RamSan-70 is a very fast, very affordable, Flash-based solid state disk that connects directly into the half-length PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect bus) express slots in most servers. It brings solid state storage as close as possible to the CPU, minimizing the latency added by hard disk and RAID controllers, network protocols, switches, and the additional hardware and software involved in both NAS and SAN topologies. Editor:- March 27, 2012 - Texas Memory Systems has introduced a new fast-enough MLC PCIe SSD into its product line as part of an SSD ASAP / caching bundle which includes software from NEVEX The new RamSan-80 eMLC PCIe SSD provides 450GB usable capacity, 700 MB/s throughput and 80K / 170K R/W IOPS.
The RamSan-20 and RamSan-10 (below) are the full-length PCIe SSDs that preceded the faster, higher capacity, half-length RamSan-70 (above).
