Mellanox Ships 60Gb/s InfiniBand

Heidelberg, Germany - June 20, 2005 - at the International Supercomputer Conference today Mellanox Technologies Ltd announced immediate availability of industry-standard, double data rate InfiniBand Host Channel Adapter silicon and PCI Express cards, along with switch silicon that supports 20Gb/s server-to-server and server-to-storage connectivity and 60Gb/s switch-to-switch I/O connections over a single copper cable.

These solutions offer twice the bandwidth of current 10Gb/s InfiniBand solutions and up to ten times the price/performance of competing interconnects.

"The production availability of InfiniBand DDR solutions signals a new era of clustered computing and storage performance," said Eyal Waldman, President and CEO of Mellanox Technologies. "20Gb/s and 60Gb/s I/O technology is in lock-step with emerging multi-core CPU server architectures and widely deployed PCI Express in-the-box interconnect."

With compute clusters growing in size from hundreds to thousands of nodes, demand has increased for a unified network to contain costs and improve manageability. Driving 20Gb/s on a single 4X InfiniBand cable and 60Gb/s on a single 12X cable reduces cable requirements by over 40% and increases cluster manageability for multi-thousand node, non-blocking clusters. Mellanox has shipped in excess of 500,000 10Gb/s InfiniBand ports into enterprise data centers and high-performance compute clusters. ...Mellanox Technologies profile

Coraid Introduces 4 Disk 1U SATA NAS

San Clemente, CA - June 17, 2005 - Coraid Inc. announced today that its SATA line features a new 1U, four disk storage appliance for SATA disks.

RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10 can be configured in the new appliance. Coraid's new 1U appliance features 4 hot swap drive bays which accommodate user installed standard SATA disk drives of any size and a dual GigE interface. Fully populated drive bays using 400 GB disk drives provide 1.6 TB of storage.

EtherDrive storage appliances use the ATA over Ethernet (AoE) protocol. The simplest, most efficient, and lowest cost means for networked storage. Using Ethernet connections, EtherDrive Storage appears to servers on the network as locally attached disks. A single chassis can provide 200MB/sec. of storage access throughput and because the AoE protocol is so efficient, any host can saturate its Ethernet connections to the storage and still have CPU cycles left for the server's main applications. ...Coraid profile
